Webcam not recognized by Cheese

Post by tharpa »

I have a Zareason with Linux Mint Cinnamon. It has a built in webcam. However, Cheese says "No device found." Is there any other webcam software similar to Cheese so I can double-check? Any other thoughts?

Update: It turns out that my Zareason has a button above the keyboard that you have to press to activate the webcam. Problem solved.

Cheese should be able to recognize your webcam, especially as your laptop came with linux preinstalled. There may be a Fn+F-key combination to turn the webcam on, for me it is Fn+F10 (that was my fault when I first tried the webcam on my laptop), or maybe there is a LED indicating the webcam?

edit: good to hear you figured it out yourself :)
