hi Malibobi,
I have a Canon i9900. Before someone wrote drivers for it I used PIXMA 8500 and later 9500 drivers for it with good functionality. You might try some other Canon drivers and see what happens. I do not believe you can hurt anything trying these other drivers. Good luck sgte5

Canon supply rpm packages for your printer;

tell us: are you using 32bit or 64bit?

If 32bit, post #10 here

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2065496

describes how to use the programme alien to convert an rpm package to a deb one, so it can run on mint.........

so you can convert, and install a Canon driver for your printer
