Unable to install Photon+/Huawei E398

Postby sierra1bravo on Thu Apr 04, 2013 12:30 am

Dear all
I've just switched to Linux Mint 14 Nadia (3.5.0-17-generic #28-Ubuntu SMP Tue Oct 9 19:31:23 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64). I've been using a Photon+ data card for several years now, but am unable to install it on Nadia.

Here's what I did (after installing the latest versions of usb-modeswitch-data and usb-modeswitch):

Code: Select all
jwala ~ # modprobe -r usb-storage usbserial
jwala ~ # modprobe usbserial vendor=0x12d1 product=0x1505  [the numbers are from lsusb
jwala ~ # wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
Editing `/etc/wvdial.conf'.
[...]
Sorry, no modem was detected!  Is it in use by another program?
Did you configure it properly with setserial?

Any help would be much appreciated.
