I have just installed LinuxMint 4 (KDE) on this desktop machine ... and am STUCK with getting my sound to work at all. Having working sound is important for me because I want to listen to styreaming radio, watch digital TV on my desktop and also run amateur radio applications like fldigi. Having no sound makes me think that LinuxMint may not be suitable for my needs. Can you assist??
My motherboard is an ASUS all-in-one type ... with on-board sound and video, etc. The command 'aplay' ... shows that the card is a SIS type ... numbered SI7012 ... and appears to be an Intel type of card. This card is seen during the bootup ... but all my attempts to get the card actually doing something come to nothing.
I have enabled the sound system: using Control Centre.
I have used Kmix to set the levels as:
Master: 96
Master Mono 90
Surround 90
PCM 90
3D Surround 0 (Muted)
3D Centre 100 (Muted)
LFE 0 (Muted)
AC97 66
... but running test sounds ... gives zero response. Can someone point me towards a simple how-to for this please?
The annoying thing about this is that on Puppylinux 4 ... I was able to get sound configured (same setup) ... in seconds ... and my amateur radio programs just worked! They used alsaconf for this trick. Can u assist?
