After installing the new Linux Mint I noticed that it has the 2.6.24-16 kernel.
I have some problem with this kernel and after looking at this bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/131094) I understand there is a chance that the new kernel will solve that problem (related to high IO wait).
Is there any option to upgrade to the new kernel?

That link is about an old kernel
There is a newer kernel as a level 4 or 5 update in mintUpdate

That link refers also to the 2.6.24 kernel (as much as i understood from the conversations there).
when openning the 4,5 level updates I only saw the 2.6.24-18 modules, and not the kernel itself.
what am I missing?

What is updated there are some headers - it's still 2.6.24

Well, after installing the linux image ...-18 I lost my wireless.
But, after installing the related modules (ubuntu...-18) I got it back!!
I read on the ubuntu forum that they have some problem where this kernel didn't install the modules as a dependency.
