Brightness of Laptop Screen [solved]

Postby DevinHester on Sat Jun 14, 2008 4:39 pm

Hello,

I just switched today from Debian to Mint and Im pretty much impressed! :)
Great Distro!

So, I have a few little problems. I start with one of the most annoying prob:

I can't change the brightness of my laptop with the FN-Key + up or down.
Nothing happens. Also the gnome panel applet didn't work!

All the other commands with FN work just fine! (Volume FN+left/right, mute FN+F6, WLAN FN+F9, etc.)

Do you have an idea?
I also tried this tutorial: http://ubuntu-snippets.blogspot.com/200 ... using.html
No success :(

Thanks a lot!

Hey your are right.

I just tried my laptop. Used to work in Daryna!

I have no fix though - sorry. Just a litte moral support. Perhaps there is another gui thingy that is over-riding this function?

Solved!

Just go to the console. STRG+ALT+F1 and then one can change the brightness (FN + up/down)

Go back to X with STRG+ALT+F7 and it works just fine!
