I have a newbuild desktop using Gigabyte Z7MX-D3H which has an onboard Atheros AR8151v.2.0 Ethernet chip. My kernel is 3.9. On installing linux Mint Nadia 64 bit with Cinnamon I find everything working except the wired connection. I have a working wireless connection. I know the wired cable is OK. It appears that the Atheros Ethernet chip supplies drivers for Windows but I have not found where to obtain any for Linux although past posts appear to mention downloading drivers.
lspci shows Ethernet controller: Qualcomm Atheros AR8151 v2.0 Gigabit Ethernet (rev c0).
lshw -class network shows

I am aware from the Web that other people have had problems installing AtherosAR8151 on Linux in past versions and have tried to use the suggestions posted, but have not been able to connect on a wired basis.
I'd be grateful for any advice.
