laptop failing to warn about low power - sudden shutdown

Daryna used to warn me "20 minutes battery power remaining"
Elyssa does not warn me, and abruptly powers off (once the battery is totally drained). Power Management settings are default. I have verified that "when battery power is critically low --> shutdown"

How do I make elyssa warn me battery power is low??

Don't know - my lappy has long battery time....
Shouldn't you set it to hibernate?

as soon as the battery goes empty, the power just 'cuts' and the computer goes down. No hiberation - No shutdown - No suspend. Only bssssshhhh powerdown......

Tested on my lappy - the same
BUT
the battery status applet (next to the clock) changed from green, to yellow, to red
If you set it to hibernate - is it the same (I know - not something you want to try)

I used to get a notification pop-up alert and an audible alert. 20 minutes remaining - or whatever. I'm not looking all the time at the colour of my icons. Software should do (and did) that work for me. Why the sudden change, Canonical?
