LCD Backlight

Hi, I've found a problem with the automatic regulation of the backlight of my notebook's LCD. The problem is: when I regulate the backlight at whichever value, it returns, after a few minutes, at maximum. I edited the gconf writing "gconf-editor" in the terminal, and I tick off every automatic regulation. I setted at "0" the AC brightness and the battery brightness, too. Though I did that the problem persist. I didn't find this problem on Windows.
When I play a video or an audio file with "ffplay" the backlight become immediately at maximum.

well... I formatted linux mint, I bought windows vista business edition and I installed it...
I have no problems, now.

EDIT: I realized just now that you answered yourself.

The problem is widely discussed in the Ubuntu Forums. I don't know if there's a solution yet, but try to do a search there.
