Mint 5 problem coming out of sleep mode

I have an HP Pavilion ze4610us laptop. Mint 4 had no problems waking up from sleep mode caused either by inactivity or closing the lid. Mint 5 does not come out of sleep mode; instead it goes to a blank screen with no signs of activity. There is no response to the keyboard or mouse. Any solutions? Thanks.
