intuos cth480 wacom tablet... No drivers yet???

Post by mooseboy12 »

Just got a brand new intuos pen and touch tablet and can not get it to work. I have tried every (figuratively speaking) version of all the wacom drivers i could find. This is only a few weeks since release, so is it just too new to have linux drivers yet? how long till the new tablets would get added to the wacom drivers?

lsusb shows a wacom device, but nothing else detects it at all.

I have tried all of that... i wasn't able to get the wacom-dkms to install though. "Unable to locate package wacom-dkms"

otherwise the driver installed.
tried installing updated version of both the kernel driver and x11driver

xsetwacom --list devices turns up nothing...

From what I can tell, the cth480 is essentially the same device as the bamboo fun pen and touch, so maybe that wacom-dkms is what I need. Why can't it be located though?

Hi mooseboy12,

You'll need to update the Wacom kernel driver/module wacom.ko to one that has support for your Intuos Pen & Touch model. Input-wacom backports support for newer models to older kernels: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/linuxwacom/index.php?title=Input-wacom The latest release 0.19.0 does not yet have your model. Support for it is due in the next release: http://sourceforge.net/p/linuxwacom/mailman/message/31485674/ You could clone the git repository once the patches are submitted and accepted. That would get you support a bit before the tar release.

You have a similar problem with the Wacom X driver xf86-input-wacom-0.23.0: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/linuxwacom/index.php?title=Xf86-input-wacom Only Intuous Pro support was added: http://sourceforge.net/p/linuxwacom/mailman/message/31455616/

The kernel driver patches have been submitted to the kernel so you could go there and get them there if you wanted to: https://sourceforge.net/p/linuxwacom/ma ... /31495198/

Hi,

I have some patches and instructions to get the new Intuos Pen and Touches working in post #3 of the BambooPT HOW TO: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=110408

I had to install the 0.20 version of the drivers, released on 7th December (see http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/mess ... d=31724061).

It works for me on Xubuntu 12.10 now, so hopefully will work for Mint users too.

Summary of the process I used at: http://unix.stackexchange.com/a/106376/43975

Hope this helps!

Mtwebster created a gui with the drivers for wacom tablets and needs some testers for it (this is for cinnamon 2 or mint 16, he moved very quickly on this one so kudo's to him for this one.
Please if you got a tablet start testing it out as they don't have a tablet to test it on, they depend on us for this one.
It's all explained here: http://segfault.linuxmint.com/2013/12/c ... s-testing/
So if you got a tablet now it is supported, they just need testers.
Help them out folks

I just got this version today!

Like Ash said the new drivers 0.20 work.

Btw anyone knows how to make the rotate function work? (I've only had a wacom bamboo pen small before so it's my first time with something a little better...)

Samriggs i've done this. ;) It works, kind of... For my old bamboo everything shows and works fine, but for my new tablet the button mapping and such are not showing (it's just recognized like a simple tablet)...

Yup just let mtwebster know what does and doesn't work, he doesn't have a tablet to use so he'll be relying on you folks to let him any bugs and exackly what does and doesn't work.
Version 19 of the driver says this for your tablet
Support for the new "Intuos" tablets (CTL-480, CTH-480, and CTH-680)
continues to be targeted for the eventual release of input-wacom 0.20.0.
link

version 20 says this
Its here! After an unexpectedly long wait for the patches to get
accepted upstream, input-wacom now offers backported support for the
three new "Intuos" tablets recently released by Wacom. If your new
tablet has been sitting idle for the past few weeks, now's your chance
to start using it :) Grab a tarball and give it a whirl!

Jason Gerecke (1):
input-wacom 0.20.0

Ping Cheng (5):
Backport Bamboo One to 2.6.30
Not all multi-interface devices support touch
Scale up touch width and height values for Intuos Pro
Make sure touch_max is set for touch devices
Add support for three new Intuos devices
link
so not sure if it is fully supported at the main driver but you can check out the drivers site to find more.
