Video Resolution onToshiba laptop with Cyber 9525

Okay this question might have been answered many times over,but I have yet to find the solution on any forum. I have an aging Toshiba laptop 4030CDT. I have installed linux mint and for the most part I am happy with it. However, my problems as probably with others is in configuring correctly Wireless, and monitor resolution.

Wireless I can get to later, but the smallish screen 800 x 600 is not good enough for me. I want 1024 x 768.

Of significance here is that when I installed SimplyMEPIS it actually was able to give me the resolution without me having to run all over the Internet to resolve an issue.

So if anyone has an answer I would appreciate hearing from you.

We have to know what's in that lappy to help you - don't expect anyone to find that in a internet search - the result is very unreliable
run lspci and prost the result
Cyber 9525 is a DVD driver according to what I found....
