Touchpad clicks on its own.

Postby Serge2702 on Wed Dec 04, 2013 6:58 pm

Hello. I've Installed Mint 15 KDE on a hp laptop, and Mint 16 Cinnamon in an Asus laptop. Sometimes when I'm typing the touchpad clicks on it's own. This is annoying because it changes the line I'm writing on. I've already enabled "Disable the touchpad while writing" in the mouse and touchpad settings, but it still happens. The only solution I've found is to disable clicking by touching the pad, but It's annoying to use the buttons. I'm assuming it's a problem with Mint (or Ubuntu) because this problem occurs in two laptops of different brand, and it doesn't happen in windows. Is there a solution for this problem?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

See if typing this command in the Terminal helps:

synclient PalmDetect=1

Thanks for the reply. I'll type for while and I'll see what happens.

This problem also happened in openSUSE. Apparently PalmDetect is 0 by default, so it's necessary to change it.
