I said I would post how things went with the Gigabyte MA78GM-S2H Motherboard so here we go. With this being a newer chip set, I expected to have a few problems with it out of the box. I used an Athlon X2 6000+ processor with 2 gig of the crucial ballistix memory and a Seagate sata hard drive. I threw in the LG 22x DVD burner to finish it. After ordering I remembered reading a article about Seagate no longer supporting Linux I guess that has not happened yet as this hard drive works well. Used the on board graphics. And the on board HD audio. Posted the board and seeing that all was working it was off to the world of Linux Mint. Booted up the CD (Elyssa 5.0 r1) and let it do it's thing. Upon reboot it found wireless card and set up security for it. No glitches there! Allowed it to get all the updates. No problems with this step! Then it was time to install drivers for the video! And wow no problems!!! But wait there is the HD audio to muck things up. But no good, all is working just fine. At this point in the set up I realized that the 22'' wide screen was running at the correct resolution! So there you have it! I had no problems with this set up, all works as it should. A very uneventful set up. And it worked out of the box. I would like to thank the whole Linux Mint team for such a great OS. To use a phrase that I keep hearing ''Linux Mint Is ready for prime time''! I have never installed a Microsoft system that did not need a whole lot more work to get it going! With Mint no need to load divers it lets you know what is needed and then gets it for you. No having to update firmware ,and to top it off I used the dreaded Linksys WMP54G wireless card. When the 64 bit comes out I am looking forward to trying it. Mike in Tucson

I just did a very similar hardware upgrade. Gigabyte MA78GPM-DS2H with the AMD X2 6000. Already had Mint installed and a copy of windows that gets used hardly ever to never. With Mint all I had to do was cleanup - use Envy to uninstall the Nvida drivers from the previous MB, and install the ATI drivers with Envy. Everything was working correctly after the driver install; in minutes I was done. Windows was the typical no-go when you install new hardware. Not really worth the time it will take to get it working.
