Keyboard, Mouse and Touchpad Stop Working

Postby linuxn00bie on Thu Dec 12, 2013 10:44 pm

I use Linux Mint 13 32-Bit MATE with my 3-year-old Sony Vaio PCG-3C1M laptop. Mostly everything works very well.

I have 2 problems with it though:

1. I put my screen down and the screen goes dark, then I take the screen back up and it goes on again without requesting password. After this, my keyboard always stops working and I have to reboot Linux to restore the keyboard.

2. Sometimes my mouse and touchpad partially stop working. I can move the cursor from both, but Linux does not respond in any way to me pressing their buttons. Both of them always stop working simultaneously. A logoff restores the functionality, a "switch user" does not.

I've also tried out the Ubuntu version that this Mint version is based on (12.4.3) and had the same problems.

Any ideas what I can do about it? I suppose it's a driver problem.

Edit: driver problem, not hardware problem

Also edit: Mouse is a Logitech 705 incase that should be of any importance.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.
