Need help with Wireless

I have a new acer Lap top and Mint does not see the internal wireless card at all. My LT does not have a PCMCIA card slot or I would have a fix. It has the new express slot in it. I was wondering if anyone new of a particular wireless express card that I can just plug in to the LT and mint will see it.

The internal wireless is:

Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter.
802.11b/g WLAN

The LapTop is a:
Acre, Aspire 7520-5185

Will try to get more info soon. Would really like to have an express card for now, but if some one can show me an easy fix it would be great. I know next to nothing about working in Linux, I depend on the OS to find and set up all hardware.

Try Auto-NDISwrapprer:

Download Auto-NDISwrapprer, and then follow the documentation.

Instructions:

Extract the dowloaded file
Place the folder Auto-NDIS-0.1 in your home directory
Open up a terminal and copy and paste the following command

sudo python ~/Auto-NDIS-0.1/auto-ndis.py

or open up a terminal and then copy and paste

Code: Select all

su python ~/Auto-NDIS-0.1/auto-ndis.py

From that point on just follow directions and enjoy

To see options:
Just give it the -h flag

--Dependencies:
NDISwrapper
Python (Your system most likely aready has it)
Some basic GNU tools your system most likely already has

Let us know if you have any success using Auto-NDISwrapprer. It is rather new so they may have a limited amount of wireless drivers. You will have to have a internet connection to use this, if you do not you will have to use your friends, neighbor or whatever.

I have the same chip.
Ndiswrapper gave me lockups, using the included mintWifi driver.
Madwifi has several tutorials, some easier than others.
There is an Ubuntu thread that worked for me and is very easy to follow.
