PCMCIA Fire wire card

I have 2 port Fire wire card for my laptop that I would like to get working. Currently it does not seem to be recognized when I boot Mint and I haven't been able to find any tips here or in the Ubuntu forums that weren't talking about wireles cards

Anyone have any suggestions?

But it would definitely help if you told us more about the card! e.g. what's the brand, who's the manufacturer, do they mention any homepage in the manual where we might lookup some specs?
