Force Feedback driver?

I've been searching for a while on getting force feedback in Linux, and every thing I have found hasn't worked. Then again, the only thing I've found is the ff-utils, which say they are in kernel >= 2.4.

I have ELyssa with Linux kernel 2.6.24-19-generic on my box, but I don't have any of the ff-utils. I downloaded the source code and compiled, followed the directions, et al, but it says my gamepad does not support it- which I know isn't true, the thing does rumble on both my Win part. and PS2- like it's supposed to.

I have a "Thrustmaster Run'N'Go 3-in-1 Wireless". Is there anything out there that can make the motors hum?

I found this
http://libff.wiki.sourceforge.net/
No luck for you there and this is even less luck
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/246952
Seems that you have to compile a kernel.... unless this has changed in the Hardy kernel which is used in Elyssa
