i recently installed Linux Mint and am happy so far, even though i still don't see much of an advantage over ubuntu, but that is another story.
What bothers me however is that my thinkpad (X31) buttons aren't working as they're supposed to.
The hardware functionality (e.g. volume up/down, mute, display brightness up/down, thinklight) works without problems. But i'd really like some gui feedback. At least something that tells me my current volume.
The problem is, that the hotkeys don't trigger any events at all. No acpi events, no registered keypresses or xevents. Nothing.
The only way i seem to get them working is by using tpb, which i really want to avoid since it polls and keeps the cpu from going to lower idle states which leads to about 10% more power drain in my case.
I already activated what can be activated as described here.
Is there anything else that i could try to make those buttons work?
