I'm doing my 'learning' on a notebook, in advance of building an HTPC and plan to use this platform.
Much of Mint is very intuitive - great job!
But as said still very much a rookie when working in the Terminal
This question relates to loading Proprietary driver package, in this case for an Asus AC56 USB Wireless Adapter (which I believe is Realtek based - apparently 8812au driver)
I downloaded the Asus proprietary driver package for Linux from here but not clear on how to actually install this.
I thought somehow could use the Driver Manager but that content is just blank
So expect to load this via the terminal - but what commands do I need?

Apparently uses same chipset as the Asus adapter;
So that guide suggests to use either the proprietary edimax driver or the open source item also linked.
where rtl8812AU_8812AU is the open-source driver package.cd Downloads/rtl8812AU_8821AU_linux-master
make
sudo make install
sudo modprobe 8812au
Using the script per that link with the open source one listed I could get the device to connect - however is extremely slow when compared to the internal one
So would prefer to use either of the proprietary ones:
(I would believe I could use either the Edmax or Asus packages which are presumably same however I would prefer the Asus one clearly in case of any other nuances).
But neither of those packages responds to 'make' - what do I have to do to use these?
