[Fixed] Webcam problem with Asus Eee PC 900

Postby Sanva on Tue Aug 19, 2008 10:26 am

Hello everybody!

I have an Asus Eee 900 with Linux Mint and I don't know how could I do to use the webcam. I have installed a modified version of Linux Kernel (it supposed to has the correct drivers to Eee's hardware: http://www.array.org/ubuntu/index.html), but its the same... it doesn't work.

What could I do??

Thanks a lot for your time.

I've hunted around the URL you pasted above and I cannot see any support for webcams included in the package list ?
Have I missed something ?

I've never managed to get the webcam running under Ubuntu/Mint on the EeePC series ....

Yup, I missed that !

Here's the definitive support list, http://linux-uvc.berlios.de/ ... what make is the camera in your EeePC ?
Looks like it's nowhere near complete yet though as a lot of support is still listed as "Partially" supported.

What company manufacture you webcam and what model is it ?
Once you know this you can check the list to see if it is supported.

I'm looking for that information, but I haven't found anything... (yes, even in the manual... it hasn't information about hardware like the webcam).

But 5 minutes ago I have read in the Wikipedia that the webcam is compatible with Debian: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asus_Eee_PC#Compatible_operating_systems.

Hi! I have fixed the problem... And I think I'm quite stupid... The webcam was disabled in the BIOS

Trying to redeem myself, I think that first I had had problems with the webcam and I disabled it in the BIOS... later I did something that fixed it trying to fix another thing (maybe the eeepc Linux Kernel: http://www.array.org/ubuntu/index.html)... and now I have gone to the BIOS to check something and I realized that I had the webcam disabled...

Thanks for all!
