Sony Minidisc Player

Postby piratemoon on Wed Sep 03, 2008 12:54 pm

Hello, I'm a brand new Mint user (though I have used Ubuntu for some time), and have recently rediscovered my Sony MZ-N710 minidisc player. I was wondering if it would be compatible with Mint, and what software I would need to run it. I can't find the original software I had...

Thanks for the help!

I have two of those things. We're f'd by sony. Sorry pardner, but sony doesn't support linux and their crap hardware and all the ubercrap software to support it is 100% closed source.

Google is your friend.

Get an mp3 player. Sell the MD player on craigslist.

I have a couple of those, too. Haven't had any luck with them in Linux. Broke down and got an mp3 player that plays .ogg files. But I kept the mini disk players because I have too much music on mini disks to get rid of them, and the sound is great. I love 'em and I'll keep using them until they stop working. But I have an XP computer in the back room, so I can still work with Sony's software if I need to. (Aside from my son's games, this is the only thing my Windows PC ever gets used for anymore!)

Sony generally makes quality stuff, but this kind of thing has kinda turned me away from Sony products.
