When I shut down the computer, the mouse and keyboard lights stay on.

On the same computer, when I dual boot to windows XP and shut down, the mouse and keyboard lights go off.

How can I get the mouse and keyboard lights to be off when I shut down mint?

Likely your computer is not truly shutting down but is powering down into standy mode, which keeps standby voltage available to the USB devices and the NIC for wake-on-lan.

Do I change that (or check for it) in Mint or in the bios?
