I am using an old Asus laptop and i recently installed Linux Mint 16 Mate. Everything works great except the wifi card, that doesnt at all...

Heres the lspci output:
Code: Select all
asus@asus-mint ~ $ lspci | grep -i wireless
02:03.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02)

I tried going to controll panel enabling the driver but that havent helped me, later on i have read i shuld uninstall it...

Everytime i tried installing the driver manually but when i hit the motprobe wl the console hangs forever and i cant load it :/.

I would really, really aprichiate any help on the topic.

Someone just suggested me a solution and it works! Here it is:

Code: Select all
$ sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter
$ wget http://mirror2.openwrt.org/sources/broadcom-wl-4.150.10.5.tar.bz2
$ tar xf broadcom-wl-4.150.10.5.tar.bz2
$ cd broadcom-wl-4.150.10.5/driver/
$ sudo b43-fwcutter -w /lib/firmware/ wl_apsta_mimo.o
$ sudo modprobe b43
$ sudo echo "b43" >> /etc/modules

Hey, thanks! I installed Linux Mint on a Dell Inspiron 910 and couldn't get the wireless to work. I followed your cmd line entries and everything worked fine except for the last line. I had to do su to execute that line. After that everything fell neatly into place.

Thanks again...
