Seagate Free Agent external USB drive

Postby durkhrod chogori on Thu Sep 18, 2008 7:24 am

I am trying to mount this drive and I can't. Need it to store my data, not to mount another distro on it or anything like that.

What is required to run it in Mint?

Thanks in advance.

...mine showed up on the desktop ready to click on...
If not, open a terminal, type:
Code: Select all
mount

...and look for a disk that matches your external drive.
Otherwise...
Try...
Code: Select all
cd /home/YOUR_USERNAME/
-> Hit 'Enter'
Code: Select all
sudo mkdir external
-> Hit 'Enter'
Code: Select all
sudo mount /dev/sdaWHATEVER_NUMBER_IT_GETS/ /home/YOUR_USERNAME/external
-> Hit 'Enter'

Hi,

Done:

/dev/sdd1 on /media/FreeAgent Drive type fuseblk (rw,nosuid,nodev,noatime,allow_other,blksize=4096)

And what's next?

Yes Linux picks up my drive but when I click on <Launch.exe> nothing happens.

The drive icon is on the desktop as well but it doesn't mount.

digital moonfish,

Ahhh... ok, that makes sense. I am a little slow this morning. :-)

Thanks,

Fred

@durkhrod chogori,

Any resolution on this thread? I'm considering buying one of these drives, but I'd like to know it works with Mint b/f I buy it.

Thanks
