Does anyone have much knowledge about SSD drives?
32GB can be had for less than 150 dollars on newegg now.
I was thinking if you used an SSD for your os, placed swap and /home on a normal drive, perhaps you could get a higher speed system?
I know the cheaper MLC based SSD's have a good read speed, though write speeds are lower.
Wouldn't a SSD give you much faster boot times?
Not to mention, you would have much fewer writes to the drive if the OS only was on it.
I can't find much online in reviews. they talk about read, write, power consumption and I/O performance, but I don't really know how this translates into real world use on a desktop.
Opinions, Knowldge anybody?
