Connected to projector via HDMI but no video

Post by HPG60 »

Hi,

So I'm pretty new at this and but I think I've got it all figured out except for one issue. I can't get my laptop to display anything on my projector via HDMI. I ran xrandr and it says it's connected but it's still not displaying anything. I've tried turning the laptop on first then the projector, the projector first then the laptop, and both at the same time, none of it has worked. I've tried all the drivers in the driver manager and I'm currently using the recommended proprietary driver but it's still not working. I know it can work because it was working in Windows 7 just before I switched to Mint 17.

A little funny thing about this problem is that I don't know the make or model of my projector. I got it from my Dad and he can't remember the make or model and there are NO identifying marks on it. I'm genuinely confused, I've searched the thing top to bottom, looked at the remote, and gone through ever menu on the device and still nothing. All it says is LED in capital white letters on the top of the device.

Here's what I got back when I ran xrandr.

Code: Select all

Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 2646 x 768, maximum 8192 x 8192

seems xrandr is able to see HDMI, could it just be the brightness not being right?
also if you use control center, Monitors does it list it?
