configuration of synaptic touchpad?

Postby shrike on Fri Mar 23, 2007 5:08 am

I recently installed Bianca on my toshiba laptop, and it works very well. But i have one problem, i want to turn off tapping on my touchpad, but i can't find a way to do this. Does anyone here know a way to do this?
Also i'm quite new to linux, so the easier the better

No problem, I have one of those myself and I know how annoying tap-to-click can be.

Ok, call me an idiot. :D

I went to do the first step--editing xorg.conf. It won't let me because the file is read-only. I'm new to this--having just installed it last night, but I'm a fast learner. What am I missing?

Thanks!

Edit:

Cancel that! I figured it out.

you have to use sudo (ie run as root).

in a terminal window:
sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

happy editing.
