Canon Camera Help

Postby singingtheworld on Wed Oct 15, 2008 4:23 pm

Hello, I've just bought a Canon Ixus 85 IS, and I'm trying to get the software to install on Mint. And it doesn't want to. It recognises the CD, and then when I try to run anything nothing happens. I've tried plugging the camera in on it's own too, and that doesn't work either.

I don't have any photo software on my machine - would this help?

Thanks in advance,

singer

I think the software Canon ships with their cameras is "Windows only".

Well it's Windows or Mac - are there any alternatives?

MintInstall gThumb from the Mint Software Portal and see if that works for you. My digicam is a Canon, though not that specific model.

gThumb didn't seem to do anything. I think I might be being a bit daft here.
