need advice on installing drivers for wireless card

Post by jimyjazz75 »

My wireless card doesn't show any more on my computer. After installation of elyssa KDE I was able to connect to wireless networks out of the box but now the wireless card is not detected any more, the command "iwconfig" reports no wireless extension.
My laptop is an Acer 5290 with an Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG wireless card.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

You haven't accidentally switched off the card?

Hi Husse, no the card is on (as I said if I use the live CD wireless works perfectly) I think that somehow the drivers for the card are not installed anymore and I'm not quite sure how to install them again.
Thank you for your reply.

OK
Run lsmod (in a terminal) and post the result
You should see something to do with Intel and wifi if the driver is loaded

I have the same problem (same card 3945abg). I think because I switch it off during installation. How can I load the driver back? thankyou

Husse at the end I reinstall mint again and for now wireless is working, but I think it'd be good to have a mini tutorial on how to re-install the drivers for the wireless card. Thank you for your reply.
