Hardrive choice - 2.5inch or 3.5 inch? (solved).

Post by Wompoo »

I am looking to replace one of the hard drives in my old 32 bit desktop computer.
When I look at what is offering, I am confronted with choices, one of which is the disc diameter.
How do I choose between a 2.5 inch or a 3.5 inch disc?
Can someone assist please?

2.5" is typically in a laptop.

3.5" is typically in a desktop
so - you want a 3.5" 1Tb or similar.

A good way is price -- as a 2.5" drive with the same capacity as a 3.5" drive will generally cost more -- as the smaller drives are intended for laptops.

Choose the faster one you can afford.

Thanks for the replies.
I does look like 3.5 inch is the one I should choose.
How do I know how fast it is though?

Please ignore the above question. It's obvious to me now.

I'll mark this as solved now. Thanks to all replies.
