Postby mvashi on Sun Nov 02, 2008 9:42 am

My sound card seems to be working fine but it seems I cannot get the pc speakers to shutup
It can be really annoying when one is working with the external speakers turned off and the pc speakers goes on emitting sounds.
I would like to shutdown the pc speaker over which I do not have control

I was researching this issue here and one of the posts had a list of devices in the pc

I am sure some kind soul will make sense of these readings and help me turn off the pc speakers.

This should work
Code: Select all
echo "blacklist pcspkr" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

And if you do a modprobe -r pcspkr you don't have to reboot to get it

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
