How to configure Middle mouse Button on thinkpad?

Postby lazerbeat on Mon Nov 17, 2008 12:38 am

I have a thinkpad X60 and I ave run various different distros on it including LM5. I use the middle mouse button to scroll windows up down, left and right. On all the previous distributions I have used I would add a few lines to my xorg.conf file along the lines of

Option "EmulateWheel" "on"
Option "EmulateWheelTimeOut" "200"
Option "EmulateWheelButton" "2"
Option "YAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "XAxisMapping" "6 7"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

In the configured mouse section, problem being LM6 seems to have a very spartan xorg.conf compared to what I am used to and there isnt a configured mouse section. I am not a totally new to linux but I am far from and expert either. I didnt make a backup of my previous xorg.conf as I havent needed to in the past.

If any thinkpad users could shine a little light on how to get this working I would be most greatful!

In Fleicia you should not have to configure your input devices
If you still have to it is not done in xorg.conf any more, more info here

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
