WiFi card not enabled on Elyssa and “Felicia” RC1 Solved

Postby nigj on Sun Nov 23, 2008 5:38 am

This problem has been addressed earlier but, I still have one major question/problem. Non of my connections will work when Im running any of the mint editions. Does this mean that these editions are not suitable for my eeepc? Is it possible to download packages that can be added after I installed mint?
Since I dont get any of my network connections to work with mint, I have trouble following the instructions as described earlier.
I should add that I can see my wifi card when I go to system administration Hardware Drivers it is even marked as active.

I added an "and" in the subject line - more understandable that way :)
The eeepc is a bit special...
We need to know which wifi card
Run lspci (or possibly lsusb) and post the result
Perhaps these links are so helpful that you fix it

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it

Thanks :) I guess that you ment for me to run lspci (or possibly lsusb) and post the result in the terminal window
bash: ispci: command not found :(
bash: isusb: command not found :(
This is (I think the information you asked for found them by running hardware test since I faild to run the command you asked for.
Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01)
Attansic Technology Corp. L2 100 Mbit Ethernet Adapter (rev a0)

Since I posted my request for help I actually turned on my wired connection my self running my eeepc on Mint 6 “Felicia” RC1 from my usb stick. It worked well in till I did the installation  So now I'm running on ubuntu 8.04.1.again. I guess I will have to do some more preparations before I do my next attempt in installing Mint :)

The command you were looking for was lspci not ispci.

As for your driver I thought Atheros cards were supported by default in Felicia. Try installing the madwifi-tools package.

:D I now have a working wireless connection on my eeepc 900 running mint-6-RC1 Felicia. :P
I`v tried several methods to solve my wifi problems, this is the link that helped me !
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EeePC/Fixes#Wireless
I`l use some days to try out mint-6-RC1 Felicia on my rather cheap note book. So far so good.
