Staticy/Choppy Sound

Postby Guest on Fri Nov 28, 2008 4:29 am

Hello there! Just got a new box built and decided to give mint a try after a couple years of Ubuntu. So far, very happy.

The only issue I've run into that I haven't been able to solve myself with Google and several hours time has been the poor quality of sound I'm getting. Sound plays, but everything from the login/logout music, to youtube videos, to divx movies has extremely staticy sound that is also choppy.

I'm using a XFX Geforce 8200 motherboard (http://xfxforce.com/en-us/products/moth ... 08200.aspx) and its on board sound.

Here's the result of uname
Code: Select all
Linux mint 2.6.24-16-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 13:23:42 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

And the result of lspci

I have this exact same problem. Just installed the newest version. Can't find any discernible reason behind it.

I'd rather not have to switch distros.

switches
uncheck the check box
