External HDD & Sound Problems

Postby sven_wien on Wed Dec 03, 2008 12:07 pm

hello all,

firstly thanks for reading this!

I try to mount the external HDD from IOMEGA, i did the force part and it didnt do anything then i added the line as given into the /etc/fstab file and restarted.
Now it says i am not privileged to mount!
What did i do wrong?

The next thing i tried to get my ALC889 sounddriver up and running, with UBUNTU 8.10 i had to do it all manualy as it didnt recoginsed it automaticly but here this part does not seem to work any ideas?

My SYSTEM: Acer Aspire 6920G, Mint 6

many thanks to all

Sven

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Could you give some more details on what exactly you did with the external disk
If you have in in fstab and the folder you tell it to be mounted in exists it should be mounted
There is obviously some significant difference between ALC889 and ALC889a.
The Aspire 6920G is a notebook - right?
Run lspci in a terminal and post the result

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
