Mouse and Keyboard do not work after running for hours

Postby jiltedcitizen on Mon Dec 08, 2008 10:57 am

To be specific I can have the computer on during the day, even walk away for a few hours and I can come back, move the mouse and wake the monitor up. If I leave it overnight...both the mouse and keyboard are locked and won't accept input. I have to unplug the pc and reboot to get anywhere. No secret reboot codes or restarting X works. This is driving me crazy. Any idea's? I'm pretty much a Linux Noob. I'm running Mint 6, on an older Abit K7a motherboard. Old Nvidia TNT2 vidcard, which runs under the vesa driver. From searching it seems my problems are very similar to laptop issues. I'm thinking the HAL scripts are the culprit. But I don't even know how to turn that off or where to look if there are logs. Help please.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I'm not sure this is a software problem
It is probably a buffer somewhere that gets filled up, can be software but my guess is in hardware
Sorry for not having a solution....

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
