new to linux mint, cant install drivers...

Postby jparnell8839 on Mon Dec 08, 2008 11:23 am

ok, so I'm not gonna lie, I am completely new to any form, shape, or fashion of Linux and I downloaded Linux Mint Elyssa. Basically, I wanted Linux because I hate Mac and I hate Vista.

But, I dont know how to install the drivers for my hardware. I have the nVidia 9600 GT graphics card but when I use Envy I get an error message. Plus, I have no sound. Its the onboard sound for the Gigabyte EP35-DS3, realtek I believe. Help, please?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

hi, did you try going to http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp and searching for your driver?

i believe Linux mint is able to handle .run files ... ubuntu is

also, try under administration > restricted drivers; it might be there

good luck
