Accessing second (external) usb-connected CD drive

Postby VictorWarner on Thu Dec 18, 2008 10:34 am

Using Linux Mint 6

I wish to use some software other than RhythmBox to play etc audio cds, but the cds will be played through an usb-connected external cd drive.

On inserting the audio cd a desktop icon appears and I can play the audio tracks through the default installed player (Rhythmbox), but programs such as Amarok (or SoundKonvertor, etc) do not recognise or will access this second CD drive.

The location of the external cd drive is shown as cdda://scd1/.(when the desktop icon is opened), but I cannot see

Help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I've seen this solved for an external hard drive by making a soft link to the drive in home
This would however have to be done for each CD in the case of CDs
Apart from that I have no idea
Part of your post seems to be missing....
