Re: all 3d games glitchy and u playable
For some buggy reason, mint uses the vesa driver instead of the intel driver. Simple fix: remove vesa driver with synaptic and reboot. Mint will then use the correct video driver.
Imho there is no need to disable compiz when playing 3D games.

Do not remove the vesa driver!!
This will make it impossible for you to do anything in case of a crisis where the normal video driver does not work.
You only use the vesa driver if it says so in /etc/X11/xorg.conf (In section "Device" you have Driver "vesa") Normally it should be some variation of intel for intel video
There should be no need, but unfortunately Compiz is not all that stable and the first thing you do if you have problems with 3D games is to turn off Compiz (it may not help but it mostly helps)
Please don't give advice if you don't know what you are talking about!

I now saw that this guy also claims that Mint uses the vesa driver instead of the intel one
Bullshit!
The vesa driver might be used as a fallback if something is wrong

This is completely untrue!!Imho there is no need to disable compiz when playing 3D games.
