RAM clock speed config?

Last fall I built a new machine and installed Mint 17 (rebecca).

My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 (rev. 4.0), and I put 2x8GB of ram in it, Kingston HyperX Beast 2400mHz.

The machine didn't feel as fast as it might have, so I went back and and poked around in the BIOS. None of the speed profiles make any noticeable difference.
