Today I was trying to transfer some photos from my photo to my Linux Mint 6 computer over Bluetooth. It took some time to realize that I needed to install the gnome-bluetooth package using Synaptic:
1) Menu -> Package Manager (type your password) 2) In the "Quick Search" box, type "gnome-bluetooth" 3) Click the checkbox next to gnome-bluetooth and select "Mark for Installation" 4) Click the "Apply" check mark at the top of the screen.
Once that is installed, you will now find a new option in the menus.
5) Click Menu -> Accessories -> Bluetooth File Sharing
Nothing obvious happens, but a new icon appears next to the clock. The icon has a circle with a triangle at the bottom of the circle. At this point, your computer is ready to receive files sent from your phone.
When I did this, the received files appeared on my Desktop.
