Intel Core i7 and Nvidia GTX 280 Support

Before, I have used Ubuntu, but found out that for some reason, the drivers for my old graphics card never worked (8600 GTS) so I was wondering if my new computer would have/eventually have better support for it.

My specs are:

Intel Core i7 920
EVGA GTX 280 Graphics Card
EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1 X58 Motherboard

I was wondering if these parts are compatible with Linux Mint as I have never used it before. If it doesn't support it right now, how long would it take until it will?

Your video card will work for sure, but you probably will have to download the latest Nvidia drivers (180.22). And it seems that the mobo and cpu are compatible:
