Native Instrument's Guitar Rig 2 - no sound

Postby stodge on Sat Jan 10, 2009 10:52 pm

I have Native Instrument's Guitar Rig 2 footpedal, which is a USB device. It appears to be detected but I'm not getting any sound from it. I have my headphones connected to the foot pedal.

I'm getting a weird error shown in lsusb -v. Anyone got this device to work?

There's an LED on the top of the footpedal that is usually lit (at least under Windows) when it's detected and working. But under Mint, the LED isn't lit. I don't know what this means, whether the driver doesn't light it, or even if the driver isn't being loaded. Any ideas?

The Pulse Audio volume meter shows that something is playing, but no sound is coming out.

The driver for it is snd-usb-caiaq, which is loaded, at least it's listed by lsmod, though the "used by" column in the lsmod output for this is 0. So nothing is using it?

Thanks

I've spent a week trying to get sound working under different distributions. Finally I got it. I can't remember exactly what I did - I had to manually load some modules and then I had to "move" the stream to the device using the pulse audio volume window. So confusing! No doubt it won't work after a reboot.

Nope, it didn't survive the reboot and now sound doesn't work again. The snd-usb-caiaq module isn't being used by anything. No idea how I got it working earlier! :(
