Synaptics Touchpad problems

Postby DTPHawk on Thu Jan 29, 2009 4:41 am

OK so I've tried everything i can to get this touchpad working correctly and i'm completely out of ideas. I'm not an expert by any means, but i'm pretty good at following guides. From what i understand from the synaptics guides i've read so far is that all config and editing to this driver needs to be done in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. I seam to e missing a lot of information compared to everyone's guides? On the other hand the logs seam to indicate that everything is being recognized ok but i'm still having problems.

What works:
Movement
Vertical Scrolling
Two finger tap for middle mouse click

What doesn't work:
Tapping the pad (very unresponsive have to tap multiple times)
Two finger drag scroll (OS X-like feature)

With Felicia/Intrepid there's a new X (like there was in Elyssa :))
You should not have to configure, but if you have to it is not supposed to be done in Xorg.conf any more although you can do it there
Here's info on how it's to be done now

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
