I have been trying to get tvtime to work with Linux mint and having no success. I am using a Pixel playing TV pro BT878 have configured it so that the dmesg output looks correct.

I have read all the forums for mint and ubuntu and all the wikis I could find. done the modprobe and even installed XP to check the card....So the question is has anyone had this card work in linux mint with tvtime or XawTV...thank for taking the time to review..M

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I have found that making a small module called bttv may help
First check so there is no bttv already
Add it to /etc/modules so it gets started
Code: Select all
echo “bttv” | sudo echo -a /etc/modules

Now create bttv
Code: Select all
echo "# i2c
alias char-major-89 i2c-devb
options i2c-algo-bit bit_test=1
# bttv
alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-81-0 bttv
# My TV Card
options bttv card=37 tuner=30 radio=1 pll=1 adc_crush=0" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/bttv

(Don't mind that you see a > before each new line before the command is executed - it's a new line character)
It's the options part of this that is important and these are for a Pixelview PlayTV Pro with bt878

Hi Thanks for the reply..I have tried it but with no success so far. I will spend some more time working with it as the results look encouraging.

I have never played with TV cards and they have always seemed a bit strange to me in their inner workings :)
