As some people already know I m using Linux mint 5 xfce 32 bits version on my laptop (I had some issues with 64 bits version...)
and I m quite happy with, except some freezes sometimes.
I d like to know if the version 6 is better adapted to my laptop and if yes, should I choose version 32 or 64 bits?
I have to say that I had to fight more than 4 months and test all main linux versions (Mandriva 2008 was a nightmare, zenwalk impossible to install, etc etc) to finally find with linux mint a version stable beautiful and quite fast.
To be honest, on my last laptop (a fujitsu siemens) after tweaking xp, it was very stable and very very fast.
Even after making all tweaks found on internet as on this website for example: http://kmandla.wordpress.com/set-up-ubu ... troduction
I still feel that something is slowering, so I wonder if a new kernel or something like that can improve the responsiveness and stability, especially with my graphic card.
According to websites I read, I don t feel a big improvement between ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10, so I wonder if it has sense to "upgrade" to linux mint 6.0 and maybe wait linux mint 7?
Thanks for your help
