oled driver instalation

Postby stabby on Fri Feb 06, 2009 1:00 am

I'm a newb and I'm a bit lost here, so plz bear with me.

I installed Mint 6 main, and everything is great except that with linux my oled display on my asus g50v laptop doesnt do anything. I found a site with a really cool driver for that:
http://asusg50oled.sourceforge.net/
I went through the instruction and the display lit up. The only problem I encountered was editing /etc/modprobe.d/usbhid. Basicaly the file isn't there, but since it worked I didn't take notice.
After a reboot the driver doesn't work anymore - oled is black. Tried to go through the instruction again bunch of times, but that did nothing.

Any idea what should I do to properly reload the driver? I'm not savy in linux commands yet.

This is probably because you did not edit /etc/modprobe.d/usbhid
This stops USB from behaving badly to the oled screen
Code: Select all
echo "options usbhid quirks=0x0b05:0x175b:0x0004" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/usbhid

This will create that file with that content
Reboot

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
