There is no way to tell beforehand whether one version of a software will work better than the other on a given system. In my case, for example, I see my system work better with the 17x.xx branch than with the 18x.xx, but there are many users who declare quite the opposite on various Linux forums. So, again, we can not tell you if the latest version of the driver will improve your system stability.
