ATI Rage 128 and Rage Pro
I have one of these older cards (was never clear on which beast exactly) . Arte these early ATI cards NOT compatible? I thought they were through the GATOS drivers but I can not find a how to anywhere that is complete.
Re: List of support TV tuner card on Linux mint and How to
I just installed Mint 9 with Hauppauge HVR-1255 card. The drivers are there, but according to dmesg I need to set the option "card=20" in the insmod.
I see there are instructions about creating or modifying files but I'm a bit confused which file it is on Mint 9 that needs to be edited. Do I need to edit /etc/modules file? What exactly do I put in there?

Re: List of support TV tuner card on Linux mint and How to
In case someone searches an application for Devices with a build-in hardware mpeg2 encoder like the devices supported by the ivtv, pvrusb2, cx18 or cx88-blackbird driver have a look at TV-Viewer. So far only analog TV is supported but this will change in a future Release.

Re: List of support TV tuner card on Linux mint and How to
Hy everyone,
I read every post, and tried solutions offered, but as more as I try more it seems that I do not know exactly what my problem is.
So I have Asus Tv-FM 7134 card and Linux Mint 9: Isadora. The thing is that when I run Tvtime, Kaffeine or even Me-TV TV card isn't recognized.
And to get things even more stupid, Skype recognizes it and with no problem plays static from it. So on with the relevant info:
lspci -v
lsmod
dmesg
After it refused to work I tried to put card and tuner numbers in options, but half way, I wasn't sure witch, so I tried different and
after 4th reboot I was bored :S
loaded modules
/etc/modules
and the latest entry in modprobe
This is my first day with Linux Mint and first (and only) problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also I will
provide every info needed that I failed to post.
Cheers

I just installed Linux Mint 10 and I'm trying to get my Avermedia Aver Tv Go 007 FM (analog) to work. I've used this card in older versions of Ubuntu and openSuSE 11.3, but it doesn't seem to work in mint.

Re: List of support TV tuner card on Linux mint and How to
Well, thanks for all the help but it ain't working. I'm not new to linux, but I'm new to Mint. But I love it.
Anyway, I followed the steps above to install my tv @nywhere card and started up tvtime. Without success. And now I'm stuck. Having no knowledge about how the tv stuff works in linux, I'm asking you for advice plz

Re: List of support TV tuner card on Linux mint and How to
Well, I tried to follow this guide but it is a bit unclear to me. I own an MSI TV@nywhere Pro and uses Mint Julia 64-bit.
I tried to follow this guide but maybe I used the wrong number? Anyway, it ain't working
82 -> MSI TV@Anywhere plus [1462:6231]
Any advice? Meanwhile, I'll try again, over and over...

For info - Hauppauge 1300 (notoriously difficult to get going with Linux) just works with LMDE, TVHeadend and XBMC - as does my no-name Winfast dongle.

Re: List of support TV tuner card on Linux mint and How to
For those who have loopback issues and experience the "no sound issue", try the following:
(loopback issues: no cables between your pci tv card and your sound card)
1. turn on tvtime
2. open a terminal and enter the following:
It should work immediatly, at least it did for me.

Hi chenyixiu
please run lsusb ( within a terminal ) with the stick connected and see if your stick is a least found.
If it is, then you can use the very first post in this thread to get it working or at least know which name to google for ( mostly based on chip sets and not brand names ).
I do wonder why you using mint 7 Will limit your options on this kind of hardware!

First post for meeeee! Love Mint!
I have a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1250, and when I had Mint 10.04, the functionality was "sketchy". I was using MythTV and when I would connect the antenna, it would receive a signal for a few seconds then the comp would log out completely out of my account! This is what I get for lsmod | grep dvb:
and lsmod:
Any help is greatly appreciated! BTW, I'm running 4GB RAM, 8400 Core 2 Duo, Mint 11.04 64bit. (I'd love to really use the remote that came with the card, too!)
Thanks!

Re: List of support TV tuner card on Linux mint and How to
I think there is some issue with the compatibility, I too had a similar problem a little while back but getting the card changed did work out for me. Checking the list of the compatible cards is the key.

Re: List of support TV tuner card on Linux mint and How to
I have a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 which I bought from Newegg a few years ago:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6815116037
Over the years, I've not had much success making it work. I tried OpenSuse, and Ubuntu. However, yesterday, I got it to work in Linux Mint 13! It was actually very easy.
I used some of the info in this http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/H ... V-HVR-2200
Here's all I had to do:
1) physically install the card. The following showed up in dmesg:
[ 4.604840] saa7164 driver loaded
[ 4.604890] saa7164 0000:02:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16

[ 4.947883] saa7164_downloadfirmware() Upload failed. (file not found?)
I then followed the comment from the Wiki:
"This necessitated the download of http://www.steventoth.net/linux/hvr22xx ... 03-10.1.fw and copy to /lib/firmware/<current kernel>"
So, I downloaded, and installed the file:
# cp NXP7164-2010-03-10.1.fw /lib/firmware/`uname -r`
Then rebooted. Upon doing so, the following showed up in dmesg:

Once that was done, I installed kaffeine, had it 'scan' for channels, and I was watching TV.
The only thing left is getting ALL the channels. For some reason, it only picked up about half of my digital TV channels.
Still working on that.
I hope this helps anyone else trying to get DTV cards to work!
I'm using Kaffeine, which seems pretty cool. It has nice recording, and scheduled recording options. Somehow, it picks up the schedules of what is on each channel for the upcoming day.
I tried installing configuring MythTV, but there were countless configuration questions/options. Questions/options like:
Phase Inversion Frequency
Photon Inertial Dampener Seed
Transcode Multiplier
Video Differential Offset
Digital Frequency Dampener Value
Reverse Allignment Tertiary Gain Setting
Primary Video Colorburst Angle
Ok, I made that up. But similar questions and I had no clue.
Kaffeine just worked.

[ 4.604890] saa7164 0000:02:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16

[ 4.764088] saa7164_downloadfirmware() Waiting for firmware upload (NXP7164-2010-03-10.1.fw)
[ 4.947883] saa7164_downloadfirmware() Upload failed. (file not found?)
I then followed the comment from the Wiki:
"This necessitated the download of http://www.steventoth.net/linux/hvr22xx ... 03-10.1.fw and copy to /lib/firmware/<current kernel>"
So, I downloaded, and installed the file:
# cp NXP7164-2010-03-10.1.fw /lib/firmware/`uname -r`
Then rebooted. Upon doing so, the following showed up in dmesg:
[ 6.222892] saa7164 driver loaded

Re: List of support TV tuner card on Linux mint and How to
All reported tv tuners that work on linux are on linuxtv.org . Also info on how and what is needed to get them to work if anything. For example the wintv 1600 model is supported without doing anything. Just fire up kaffeine and get going.
